Carrie & Dan’s Nashville wedding at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens from this past summer is in the newest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, on stands now! It would be nearly impossible for me to recap the day better than the article did, so I suggest you check it out for yourself if you happen to be near a magazine rack! There were SO many special and personal details that filled their day. They focused their celebration on their family and their lives together, along with some of my other favorite things- tradition (Carrie wore her mom’s dress!) beauty (BOTANICAL GARDENS!) music (more on this below) and love (duh). Carrie had such great style. In the magazine, she described the wedding as a garden party with an artsy edge- Queen Victoria meets Frida Kahlo. Classic and traditional in one way, but colorful and spunky at the same time. I adored her vision. We used all kinds of varieties of flowers- garden roses, ranunculus, mock orange, FERNS, greenery, kangaroo paw, poppies, AND the most amazing coral charm peonies. End of may is primetime for those, my friends. Prime time! Anyway, check out the beautiful images, taken by Rylee Hitchner, below!
Let’s just say, I’ve never been to a wedding with cooler music than this one. Again, my recap won’t be as perfectly detailed as the article from Martha Stewart OR THE NEW YORK TIMES, but here’s what I remember. Dan wrote all the ceremony music for his bride, which you can listen to here. Carrie’s dad wrote “Tennessee Wedding Song‘ and sang it during the ceremony – it had everyone it tears, including myself (shocker!) During the reception, Carrie’s mom, dad, and stepdad played (first picture below) their first dance song! AND THEN her dad got together all his Nashville musician friends together and they played the rest of the night! It was so memorable- a fun party, a jam session, and an overall incredible day!!
I am so grateful Martha Stewart chose to feature their wedding. It was a beautiful day that needed to be shared 🙂
Special thanks to my amazing team (Chris, my mom, Michelle, and Amanda) for trekking all the way to Nashville to help me with this one! And thanks to Josh for bringing us iced coffees and help when we needed it most- the sun was hot in Tennessee that day! Also, I must thank my good friend Lauren Ledbetter for being the best teammate and coordinator for this wedding. I remember sitting on a chair with aching feet, a sunburn, and an allergy headache at the end of the day she kept reminding me why we were there- to love on our bride and make the day happen as she wanted it, no matter the obstacles, which you wedding people know, there are always obstacles. We have to power through for the ones we love, and I love my brides! I am so grateful for every opportunity over the past year, and this wedding takes the cake!
